In my #TapestryRPG #TTRPG system, there are 9 "elements" of magic which mortals can manipulate to some extent:
light/life
dark/death
air/wind
fire
water
soil (organic earth)
metal/stone (inorganic earth)
space/time (which also includes "force"/kinetic energy and gravity).
If an opponent has resistance to one damage type, a weapon should still in most cases be able to inflict damage with its secondary damage type, albeit at a reduced number.
This adds very little complexity, since these are static properties, so it doesn't slow down combat, and makes for better #realism and better #roleplaying opportunities in character building for players.
Also, great weapons in #TapestryRPG are not 2d6, they are 1d12 primary/1d10 secondary.
This also reveals another subtle failing of #DnD #DnD5E #OneDnD, in that there is no "sword", just the shortsword (light, finesse) and the longsword (versatile, but not light or finesse), with nothing in between, leaving a huge gap.
That's why for #TapestryRPG System, I've completely redesigned the weapons chart with a better progression of damage levels, more logical weapon properties, and distributed damage types evenly, as well as added secondary damage types one dice tier lower. #rpg #ttrpg

Splitting DEX into Agility and Dexterity in #TapestryRPG System makes sense to me, because playing the piano, or the harp, or picking a lock, is quite a different thing that performing feats of acrobatics, or dancing.
Intelligence is like deductive reasoning, Intuition is like inductive reasoning. Willpower is mental fortitude. Memory is pretty self-explanatory, and Charisma, Strength, and Constitution are the same as #DnD. #rpg #ttrpg
#TapestryRPG is like #DnD5E, except slightly more granular in areas where I think it makes sense, and a lot less complex in areas that have always bugged me about #dnd

Intuition
Willpower
Memory
Charisma

Instead of a d20 test, the #TapestryRPG System uses a d30 test. This gives 3.33% steps, instead of 5% steps. It's slightly more granular, without adding too much extra complexity.
Most of the mathing in Tapestry is done at the time of character creation, and is only adjusted if something fundamental about the PC changes. During play, it's just a simple die/dice roll test. #rpg #ttrpg
The number of Spell Points and Life Points each PC has in the #TapestryRPG System is determined by a mathematical formula based upon the PC's ability scores, not by "class level", and remains the same, unless the PC's ability scores change, which they mostly do not, because there is no progression of levels, as such.
Each is based on 3 of the 9 primary ability scores, with the formula (A/1 + B/2 + C/3)*2.
Ability scores are generated via 8d3, 6d4, or 4d6r1, and range from 3-24. #rpg #ttrpg
The #TapestryRPG System also dispenses with spell slots and daily preparation for magic. Once a spell is learned, it may be cast at will, provided the caster has enough remaining spell points to cast it. The cost of casting is the square of the spell level. A 1st level spell costs 1 point, a 2nd level spell costs 4 points, a 9th level spell costs 81 points.
Once a caster reaches 0 Spell Points, they can choose to use their Life Points to continue to cast, even unto death. #rpg #ttrpg
These are why my #TapestryRPG System uses a skills-based character development system. There are no classes. Any PC can spend skill points on any type of skill.
The magic system is elemental-based, and limited by the ability of mortal spellcasters to shape the forces under their control and bend them to their will. This makes the magic system much less powerful in some ways.
Highly complex magical constructs are beyond the reach of mere mortals, and are the realm of deities, only. #rpg #ttrpg

Yesterday, the replica Anglo-Saxon coins I ordered to use as Heroism tokens in #TapestryRPG arrived. The color is a bit paler than the picture, but they are still good for what I need. They should make these out of Nordic Gold, the copper alloy used for modern Euro coinage.
Although at 35 mm, they are larger than I would have preferred, they still fit perfectly in the Plano 3650N tackle box I use to store my dice and other #RPG supplies.

I managed to consolidate my dice in my Plano 3650N tackle box to make room for the #ICRPG Index Card RPG Essentials Deck and Think Deck I ordered the other day. Iโm going to add another Plano 3600 box, with no dividers, and that will be my travel #TTRPG #RPG GM Kit. Iโll probably shave off the little divder nubs in the large compartment so the cards sit flat during transport and donโt get damaged. Iโve just hashed out a few things for #TapestryRPG concerning Critical Success/Critical Damage, Critical Failure, Heroism (Tapestryโs version of Inspiration), and Called Shots.
