I have used Google Meet and Zoom in the past, particularly for teaching online during covid. I am starting online teaching again, and the question of which platform I use has come up. Privacy is not a major concern, and I am already running Nextcloud.

Does Nextcloud Talk have better features than the others? Do you prefer it from a user point of view?

If I record some narrated lecture notes via PowerPoint, and I upload it to YouTube, and they get credit for having watched it via posting in a discussion board in Canvas… I think that’s as much accountability as I can build in for their work for while I’m gone. Well that’s one course shell done. Only two more to do before Monday. Not for the first time, I question the wisdom of taking a #SessionalInstructor contract (more like 2.5 contracts, really) while also having a “normal” job. Do I have time for this? I guess I made it work under more trying circumstances last year. It wasn’t fun tho.

Facilitated a session on accessible and flexible learning online yesterday. I’ve been working with faculty for two decades. You know what I’ve noticed? The pandemic made a lot of folks get really good at #TeachingOnline. I was floored by the group yesterday.
