🎉 Nitrocid KS 0.2.0 RC is nearly here! 🎉

📆 December 25th, 2025

Powered by Terminaux 8.0!

Get ready for the biggest milestone yet!

Our projects welcome One UI 8!

Starting from today, we have finally set the support date for our official support of One UI 8 that was released for the Galaxy S25 series on September 15th. One UI 8 is an operating system that brings minor improvements in different areas, while introducing exciting new features, such as the adaptive lock screen clock.

We will begin supporting users who are using One UI 8 to support our projects, such as Nitrocid KS and BassBoom, until December 2nd, 2032. Our projects can now run on One UI 8, which is a big achievement for us, as we keep supporting our projects on Android.

Furthermore, we’d like to remind users who are still using One UI 6.x, which was released in 2023, that our support of this operating system version will cut off starting December 30th, 2027. This is to ensure that we keep going forward. You can still run our projects after this date, but all official support will end.

To update to One UI 8, make sure that you’re using an eligible device, such as Samsung Galaxy S25; Galaxy Z Fold6; and Galaxy Tab S10, before you check for updates. The rollout may vary, depending on the model and the country.

Terminaux Release Rhythm Clarification

When Terminaux 8.0 was released, we’ve given it five years of support to ensure long-term support for enterprise environments that may utilize this library for their applications. This version of Terminaux didn’t add many features, but brought some improvements to different areas of the library. The release support window is given to each major version series as below:

  • Major versions of Terminaux that are even-numbered, such as v8.x and v10.x, will be supported for five years, and adds less features for more fixes and improvements.
  • Major versions of Terminaux that are odd-numbered, such as v7.x and v9.x, will be supported for one year, and adds more features while maintaining more fixes and improvements.

That being said, the odd-numbered releases will introduce more features that increase productivity and efficiency of your terminal applications, and they will be added in a long development cycle. Those releases will also integrate bug fixes and general improvements to ensure stability. Conversely, even-numbered releases will introduce less features but more bug fixes and improvements, which makes those releases less ideal for experimental ideas during development to make sure that we allow room for enhancements.

As for when development starts for each major version, we do not have a fixed development start schedule, as we are aiming reliability over quantity by evaluating internal requirements and user feedback. We silently start development of each version, but we announce versions that are worth talking about in our official blog once development cycle finishes. However, we are making sure that another LTS version gets released before the previous LTS version becomes end of life, with the maximum of one month before EOL.

During each development cycle, we’ll be evaluating plans from time to time to ensure that we add features that are in scope of the release. There is no definitive answer as to when we also plan to finalize development for a specific version, unless otherwise stated in the official blog.

Terminaux Long-Term Support announcement

As we have just released Terminaux 8.0, we have decided to finalize the support period for this version of the library. We have made this decision as Nitrocid 0.2.0 becomes under development, which is also planned to be a long-term support release that will be for ten years. This is necessary to ensure that we maintain high security standards during the long lifecycle.

Terminaux 8.0 is now supported for five years instead of just one year to allow more time for security and bug fixes, while also making room for improvements that will be made to Terminaux applications.

The release support pattern has become:

  • Major Terminaux versions that are odd-numbered, such as v7.x or v9.x, will only have a single year of support, and those versions will introduce more features.
  • Major Terminaux versions that are even-numbered, such as v8.x or v10.x, will have five years of support, as we promised, but they will only introduce fewer features.

This is important for Terminaux applications that are used in enterprise environments to allow time for enterprises to migrate their applications, should we release an LTS release of the library.

This does not set a definite release rhythm for when the first version of a new version series releases, unlike projects that have a clear release rhythm, but we will introduce new and promising versions to you as we monitor user feedback and internal plans.

Terminaux 8.0 will be supported for five years until October 13th, 2030!

Terminaux 8.0 is now available!

After the release of the most exciting Terminaux 7.0, we are continuing the journey of performance and productivity by releasing Terminaux 8.0 to build on top of the preceding version. We have done further refinements in this version to upgrade your terminal applications to a whole new level.

With new features being in place, we have taken a step further and introduced some more features that are taken from Nitrocid, such as audio cues for each keypress. This extends the feature from being exclusive to the terminal reader to being globally available across all areas of console applications. Not only that, but you can also customize the audio cues to play any sound you like using file streams. Introduced with Nitrocid, we have extended audio feedback to all areas of Terminaux applications, such as interactive TUIs.

To hide some commands that are worth hiding, such as hidden features and easter eggs, we have decided to add support for hidden commands through a command flag to make it easier for you to hide a command. This way, we have used it to introduce a plethora of commands that are related to strings, numbers, and other commands that are useful for scripting. You can show them using the -hidden switch when executing the help command.

To speed up documentation, we have decided to add a new switch that allows you to export a list of commands to Markdown tables. This will print the output to the console, which you can copy and paste to your favorite markdown editor or any other editor that supports Markdown, such as VS Code. This will make life easier for the documentation team for your application.

We are aware of the importance of redirecting Terminaux application’s output to a file or to a pipe. To achieve this goal, we have decided to remove the whole console checker feature that was there in Nitrocid. This will open new possibilities for applications that use Terminaux, especially the CLI. Please note that Terminaux applications using graphical renderers and other rich output, such as animated text, will not work properly in redirections.

You can upgrade Terminaux applications to use the eighth major version today, and for free!

Terminaux 5.4.x is no longer supported as of today. Upgrade to 6.1.x or 7.0.x to continue receiving support.

officialaptivi.wordpress.com/2

Terminaux 5.4.x has become EOL

We have released Terminaux 5.4.x to add features and improvements on top of the v5.x version series to add the WideChar struct, the CIE-LCH color model, and the regular expressions support for the searchable items. Since then, we’ve set the end of life date for this version series of Terminaux.

The end of support of Terminaux 5.x has commenced as of September 26th, 2025, a year after the v5.4.x series has been released. You’ll need to upgrade your applications to use Terminaux 6.x or higher, as long as they’re supported until August 5th, 2026, if you need to continue receiving support.

Existing applications using Terminaux 5.x after the above date will still work, but you won’t receive official support from us. Terminaux 6.x’s support date was extended because of a buggy release of the first version released on December 22nd of the last year.

To upgrade Terminaux in your application, you’ll need to perform the upgrade and to adjust your code for the breaking changes. Additionally, changes to the parameters might be needed. Consult them if you want to upgrade.

One UI 8 support for our projects

Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 8 update to Korea on Monday and widened the rollout to many countries today, starting from the Galaxy S25 that was the only target device this week. This is a big moment for those who are owning the Galaxy S25 smartphone, but others will have to wait until it’s their turn.

We are currently planning the One UI 8.0 support for our projects, but we are not going to evaluate and test them under the One UI 8.0 environment as we’re waiting for the update to land to our testing device, the Galaxy Tab S8, which is expected to land to this tablet on October 23rd as per Güncel Miyiz. Therefore, we can only set dates internally.

Nitrocid, Terminaux, BassBoom, and all other projects will be tested under this environment to ensure that we can finally give official support to One UI 8.0 users. Due to the age of the tablet series, we can’t give support to those who are using Android 17 or later until we allocate resources for it.

Once we test those projects, we will announce the full support date. This is when we can guarantee that our projects work under One UI 8.0 and 8.5 and to give official support to those who are using the One UI 8.x version series.
