One UI 8 Beta Program tipped to start in June!

One UI 8 is an incremental update that started after the One UI 7 development finished. This version of One UI brought aesthetic changes to various system apps, as well as improved animations, general performance improvements, optimizations for large screens, and bug fixes.

Recently, a rumor circulated online about how Samsung plans to start the One UI 8 beta program as early as June, starting from the Galaxy S25 series. The same tweet advises that this is not an officially confirmed information coming from Samsung, so users are advised to take this with a grain of salt.

This is connected with earlier rumors about how Samsung plans to release One UI 8 in the second half of this year. In case this rumor turns out to be true, users who have an eligible device, such as the Galaxy S25, will be able to try out One UI 8 before everyone else. We will, however, remind you that the Beta program is for you to find and report bugs and suggestions to Samsung as development progresses. Countries like Korea, India, and the USA are eligible for this Beta program.

Eligible Flagships for One UI 8

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about One UI 8 as leaks started to surface, including the one where SamMobile has highlighted some of the One UI 8 changes, such as the refined gallery menu and the refined My Files landing page, while maintaining the One UI 7 aesthetics. One UI 8 is said to come with the Galaxy Fold/Flip 7 series as the first devices that will get it.

As we’re already waiting for One UI 7 to actually restart its rollout, One UI 8 will be a minor incremental release on top of One UI 7 that will bring improvements to existing features, as well as bringing back Galaxy S25’s Now Brief (Daily Brief) and Log Video to the older flagships.

Although this list is based on Samsung’s refreshed update policy, the following flagships will be able to experience the One UI 8 update by the second half of this year:

  • Galaxy S
    • Galaxy S22 / S22+ / S22 Ultra
    • Galaxy S23 / S23+ / S23 Ultra
    • Galaxy S24 / S24+ / S24 Ultra
    • Galaxy S25 / S25+ / S25 Edge / S25 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z
    • Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 4
    • Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 5
    • Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 6
    • Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (Korea only)
  • Galaxy Tab S
    • Galaxy Tab S8 / S8+ / S8 Ultra
    • Galaxy Tab S9 / S9+ / S9 Ultra
    • Galaxy Tab S10 / S10+ / S10 Ultra
    • Galaxy Tab S9 FE / S9 FE+
    • Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024)

Devices like the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip4, and the Galaxy Tab S8 will no longer receive any major OS update after the release of One UI 8.

Please note that the list above is not official, and can change as soon as the official rollout of One UI 8 starts.

Samsung Galaxy S25 spotted running One UI 8 on GeekBench

One UI 7 still didn’t finish development for the Galaxy S24 series and older devices that were released last year, because the beta programs for the Galaxy S24, S23, Z Flip/Fold 6, and Tab S10 didn’t end. Samsung had reportedly started development of the eighth version of One UI as per this article for the Galaxy S25.

There is an exciting update on the horizon as a reliable tipster on X has shared a new interesting news that revealed the latest GeekBench scores for the Galaxy S25 running One UI 8 based on the upcoming Android 16.

For the single-core score, it was 3135, and for the multi-core score, it was 9938. This information was published on March 25th, 2025, while the next version of One UI was on the S931BXXU1BYC5 build. This test was made on the base version of Galaxy S25 with 12 GB of RAM. On March 7th, there was the first build of One UI 8 that made it to the test servers under the BYC1 version. Today, the build for the upcoming version of One UI bears BYC7.

One UI 8 will use Android 16 as the version, and we speculate that its beta program will start at around late third quarter, starting from the Galaxy S25 series, after the next version of One UI Watch gets released this year. Meanwhile, Samsung plans to push One UI 7 onto eligible devices starting from the Galaxy S24 and the Z Fold/Flip 6 series on April 7th, 10th, and 14th for different regions.
