#TheBookOfKhalid (1911) is a novel by #ArabAmerican writer #AmeenRihani. Composed during a sojourn in the mountains of #Lebanon, it is considered to be the first novel by an Arab-American writer in English. His contemporary, #KhalilGibran, illustrated the work, and the story is often seen as an influence on Gibran's own well-known book #TheProphet.

Khalil Gibran wrote the words but Sweet Honey in the Rock arranged them in perhaps the most beautiful way possible. They express a fundamental truth that the socalled #ParentalRights movement ignores at its peril.

@EgyptianAphorist As I'd commented in another thread, there's a full reading of The Prophet (1h45m) here:
"And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of
pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is
refreshed..."

You could read Khalil Gibran's The Prophet.
It's a fantastic read. Loads of philosophy, but I believe it helps.
I was at peace after I read it!
Literature-wise too, it's an amazingly written work of art!

For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life’s procession that maries in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite.
When you work you are a flute through whose heart the whispering of the hours turns to music.
Which of you would be a reed, dumb and silent, when all else sings together in unison? <<
