Spent the last week including New Years in beautiful Basra, Iraq with @konstantinosyann 🇮🇶♥️🎶 We also made a little day trip to Al-Faw at the Iranian border.

Great food, kind people, impressive architecture, bustling street markets, amusement parks & lots of sweet chai... 😋 We danced with some teenagers celebrating the new year and even kinda attended a wedding... 🥰

I just started this article by Patricia Crone about 9th Century Muslim anarchists from Basra. I haven't even got to the Muslims yet and already learned something new! Of course once I read that it's not obvious that human society can exist without government I can see that it's not, which means it had to occur to someone at some point.
