Wo finde ich eine gute Anlaufstelle, wenn man lernen möchte eine eigene #Friendica Instanz auf einem #VServer zu installieren. Mit LLMs komme ich nicht weiter.
The #BoxyBSD project is taking a pause from provisioning completely free #vps instances / #vserver. For further questions, reach out to @gyptazy or in our Matrix chat.
After publishing the new self-service portal and making it easier to use and get a free VPS instance, we got a lot more new users who requested an instance than usual. We’re not out of resources but we want to provide a great and reliable service and have a buffer for upcoming things.
We’re already restocking the resources and adding new nodes to the project but temporary stop provisioning new instances. In the meantime, we will provide new services that will make the overall experience for users much better and easier.
We already started this with the new #NAT64 gateways and the new free #loadbalancing service that allows you to serve your website also on #IPv4, even your box is #IPv6 only.

We just added a free #loadbalancing service to #BoxyBSD!
This new feature got added by @gyptazy in addition to the newly introduced #NAT64 gateways to make your life easier and is currently tested with a few users! This provides you the ability to make your website also reachable by #IPv4 even your box is only running on #IPv6. This feature can be managed from your self-service portal and simply requires you to add a DNS name that should be balanced and to point the DNS A record to a given IPv4.
Making the legacy internet life easier, we hope for a higher #BSD adaption where people might be more motivated to try #FreeBSD, #NetBSD, #OpenBSD or even #opensolaris with #illumos.

The obvious disadvantage is that you sort of feed the whole #AI #bullshit by hosting one yourself, but since it's used to poison its own kind, it's kind of justified in my opinion.
The stumbling block for me so far when looking briefly into it is finding a model that can run on a #vServer without any #GPU since I'm not willing to shell out big bucks to set this up. But I feel certain that this can be solved.

Mi blog se trasladó ayer al nuevo #vServer de forma silenciosa y sin problemas. Si bien las páginas #html puras siempre se han cargado rápidamente, ahora las cosas son un poco más rápidas. Ahora todos los movimientos están hechos y es hora de crear contenido nuevo. 😉
Pero no está de más echar un vistazo al inventario:
Still und ohne Aufhebens ist mein Blog gestern auf den neuen #vServer umgezogen. Waren die puren #html-Seiten schon immer schnell geladen, geht es jetzt tatsächlich noch etwas geschwinder. Nun sind alle Umzüge erledigt und es wird Zeit neue Inhalte zu schaffen. 😉

Wo es jetzt doch wieder ein eigener #vServer geworden ist, hoffe ich, dass ich nun die nächsten Jahre Ruhe bei diesem Thema habe.
Etwas Feintuning ist wohl noch nötig. Mal sehen, wie kompliziert das wird.
So, that's it, #Yunohost is history. It's a shame, it sounded like a good project, but it wasn't right for me. My requirements probably deviate too much from the standard. I've had enough of fiddling around with it for days. #Plesk disgusts me, but at least it made what didn't work with Yunohost.
Only the console email program #aerc refuses (still), even though it works in #Thunderbird. It would be great if configuring #Server didn't require any gymnastics. #Linux #VPS #vServer
So, das war es dann, #Yunohost ist Geschichte. Schade, klang nach einem guten Projekt, aber passte nicht zu mir. Wahrscheinlich weichen meine Anforderungen zu sehr vom Standard ab. Mich tagelang herumärgern reicht irgendwann. #Plesk widert mich zwar an, doch damit hat das, was mit Yunohost nicht klappte, wenigstens funktioniert.
Nur das Konsolen E-Mail-Programm #aerc weigert sich (noch), obwohl es in #Thunderbird funktioniert. Wäre ja auch zu schön, wenn #Server konfigurieren keine Klimmzüge benötigen würde. #Linux #VPS #vServer
