The special edition of Xcrawl Classics showed up yesterday, and that just encouraged me to put together an explanation of why I have this thing in my collection even though it wouldn't seem to fit in.

6. Then I returned to my glorious stadium to take part in #XCRAWL, where we conquered the Rome Invitational -- not part of the Goodman tournament, but a one-off by another GM who was a great fellow. XCRAWL is a party experience in every sense of the word, much hooting and hollering was had as we contended with skiing trolls, angry sea monsters, and a lava giant!

A swashbuckling pirate who (thanks, dice) turned out to be awful at buckling swashes, but good at making deals with demons
A confused young infernalist, trying to hide the fact that he killed his best friend's mother
I had the most perfect day at #GenCon that I've had in years.
Opened up with a #SavageWorlds game of fantasy-Americana black powder guns and supernatural spooky things from the woods, group was engaged and our last minute substitute GM was on target.
Immediately to an #XCRAWL game previewing the #DCC version of the rules (currently live on Kickstarter if you wanted to know). GM is a dear friend of mine, we counted and realized our friendship is old enough to drink!

Thinking about XCrawl (Dungeons as entertainment) and I don't think D&D, Pathfinder or even DCC are what I'd want to use for it. I'm actually thinking Savage Worlds might be fun for it. Nothing solid to base this opinion on, just a feeling.

The game idea is heavily influenced by X-Crawl. However, not so much the actual writing of X-Crawl itself, which is...not great? But the concept of Dungeon Crawling as an extreme sport, reality show or wrestling match. Peopleman dungeons made so that larger then life people can go into them and explore them on live TV. #XCrawl #GameIdea
