A Black-crowned Night Heron stands amongst waterside growth of glasswort with a Great Egret on a rock at the water's edge, wings outstretched. The Night Heron is in the foreground and has a dark cap and back, grey sides and white front - more cream closer to its head and dark pointed bill. It has a dark red eye. The Great Egret is all white with a yellow pointed bill, just visible in this shot, although the rest of its head is hidden behind the right wing. The long legs are dark. The Egret is much larger than the Night Heron.

A Snowy Egret perched on a rock near water. It is a medium sized white water bird with long black legs, yellow feet, and long pointed black bill and yellow where the bill meets the head, up to the yellow eyes. Other than that all white, and its long neck is curled up in this shot. The wind is catching the plumes on the back of the head and back. Calm water and rocks can be seen below the surface.

Just a short harbor walk this morning, the Green Heron was the first of the 5 heron/egrets we get locally that I saw, and also got a distant Osprey with a fish. More pictures coming. #Birds 🪶 #Photography #BirdPhotography #FujiFIlm #XT5
