#BadUpdate is a "#tethered" exploit and it only allows running games and unsigned code. You can run #Homebrew and custom launchers this way but that's not gonna help re: #OS1337!

• It does not replace #RGH3 as "hard mod" (which nowadays is chipless and only requires a #PiPico for #flashing in return, and that's needed for #XeLL aka "Xenon Linux Loader" to run #Linux on the #Xbox360.

• Best bet is still to buy a #360Slim and follow @MrMario2011 , #ModdedWarfare and espechally #WeekendModder's tutorials for #modding…

When I tried booting linux 6.17 with the xbox 360 patches on my 360 slim via xell (badupdate + freemyxe), it crashes dramatically after a few seconds with the screen showing glitched graphics. Is this a known issue?

@wyatt yes, it is simply because the #Xbox360 is relatively easy to mod (#RGH3), even the #Winchester Version can at least be "tethered" jailbroken (using the #BadUpdate - #exploit) and #AFAICT it's not possible to break the #XboxOne as #Microsoft designed their own custom *on-CPU die "Security Complex" with everything being end-to-end, hierachically encrypted from the per-CPU Key down, so the only place something is unencrypted is inside the APU which has the CPU & GPU on.

• All external buses and lines are transparently encrypted, decrypted, checksum'd and error-corrected at I/O speeds - including the RAM!

And if you try to #RGH that one and destabilize the #CPU it'll literally give you the finger and reboot the moment it detects some fucky-wucky - ness in terms of clocks and/or voltages...

#BadUpdate is a cool #Exploit for the #Xbox360, but sadly only acts as a "#TetheredJailbreak" and not a replacement for #RGH3 and other #mods.

• But it does work on #Winchester revision mainboards, so that's a bonus...

I can confirm the #badupdate exploit on the #xbox360 works well after a bit of weekend tinkering!

Playing certain games on actual hardware, such as the leaked GoldenEye 007 prototype or long since delisted Marble Blast Ultra, is a surreal experience I didn't expect to be having this week.

I'd definitely recommend checking this out if you have an Xbox 360 lying around, along with a large capacity USB drive and a healthy dose of patience.

Let me see. If the device isn't under warranty and the manufacturer bricks the device and you are SOL for a replacement? Telling them no replacement unless under warranty is a recipe for people to go elsewhere. Also, who was RESPONSIBLE for QA as someone truly screwed up.
