Saw čims (Black Bear) today! He was pretty scared of the busy road. Smart bear! Didn't get a good photo, and only mediocre video, but here you go :) 🐻

REALLY GOOD day helping out the #ndp today. Big sign wave on #bchwy4 in #portalberni. Gord Johns was there and then jetted off to other spots in the riding. 🏃

I helped out with some data entry, then knocked on doors in my neighbourhood.

Talked to some voters (pro and not so sure). All good conversations. Helped someone make a plan to vote.

It feels really good to help.

Finally!! We’ve been talking about a roundabout at this spot in #portAlberni on #bchwy4 for almost 10 years.

Looks like it is finally happening! My only worry is that without changes to the traffic light setup nearby at Johnston and Victoria Quay, there could be a bottleneck that happens.

We'll see how they engineer it!

Sitting here in a lineup on #bchwy4 for some road work.

Our 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric just passed 200,000km this week! I got a snap of the odometer at palindrome 199991 which was satisfying. But a sudden snow storm/hail storm prevented me from capturing 200k and 200002 officially, but that's ok.

I just made its *first* appointment to have its brake pads replaced. Amazing longevity on these EVs for brakes. I really should have done it about 10k ago but still.

Great car. Age is starting to catch up a bit.

It needs the EV battery coolant flushed/replaced this year, and some small stuff is wearing:

The passenger side seat heater is on the fritz, and one of the door lock mechanisms is extra loud.

But all things considered, for the amount of kilometres in the past 5 years (really more like 3 due to pandemic), and the addition of the utility trailer, it's doing great! #EV #Kona #Hyundai #Electric #carlife

I like taking Hilliers Rd just after the #bchwy19 and #bchwy4 interchange. This used to be the old "shortcut" to go to Qualicum before the Inland Island Highway happened. Love this farm. Picturesque all seasons of the year.

Eight bales of hay have been arranged into two snowman in the middle and two bales on each side. In Christmas colors.

The highway cams along #bchwy19 and #bchwy4 look like snow is concentrated near Buckley Bay on the north and then from Woodgrove to College Drive in Nanaimo. Compact snow in most places. Drive carefully if you are commuting.

The Hump is not bad but Sutton Pass looks snowy. Lots of snow on the West Coast!

Apparently today was an eventful day for white Teslas in #portalberni 😆
This parking job in the very same very tight/busy parking lot earned this white Tesla a post on s**t parkers of #portalberni FB group today (not by me). 😂 #tesla #baddriving

And going back to our x-Can trip with the near exact same trailer, we never once blocked a travel lane while charging. 😝 This is a skill/courtesy issue. 😝 There isn’t even anything in the trailer, that tarp is going to blow away! 😂

tbh, there are lots of reasons you might run out. When we drove x-Canada a friend ended up in the same position with her Bolt on a tow truck between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. But that was because of literal lightning ⚡️ hitting a crucial charging spot she had planned to use.

We had a real fish outta water situation today on #bchwy4 between #PortAlberni and #Tofino. A sea lion found its way up Kennedy Inlet, which connects pretty directly to the large Kennedy Lake. Not sure why she decided to come up on land, let alone wander into the road. Poor guy!

At least the rain kept her cool.

Quite a bit of snow in the mix on the radar around Central VI. If you are driving today take care on the mountain passes. You might see some rain/snow mix particularly heavy rain could turn quickly to wet snow.

My internet connection at home since the power outages is deeply unhappy for some reason.

Not sure if it is my ISP (Telus, which is generally extremely reliable), hardware on my home network, or something else, but updates to the website are slow and I am taking the webcams offline temporarily while I troubleshoot.

Radar showing freezing precipitation over #portAlberni though at the surface here it is raining lightly.

Good indicator that if the rain picks up intensity or if you drive to higher elevations, it could change rapidly. Looks like sleet falling at Taylor River.
