So many people can only imagine the solution to a genocidal fascist is to put them in prison. As if prisons aren’t run by the same type of people.

“ICE agents are criminals and should be in jail!” - As if they wouldn’t just be in another building with their pals in uniform.

“[some US politician] is a traitor and doesn’t represent American values!” - As if the US wasn’t founded on patriarchal values that promote genocide, slavery, racism and misogyny.

Somehow people still cling onto nationalism and patriotism when discussing global issues. They still wave that flag even when wars are waged across borders.
Canadians might think they’re better than USians but fires burn, winds destroy, and waters flood or dry up beyond borders. Canada still participates and promotes war.

Shoving people behind bars until they can pay their way out is just participating in the same system of oppression.

I might not know the solution but surely we can’t continue to use the same tools of oppression to stop the oppressors.

If anything, the average Canadian could be taking 10 minutes a day to stay on top of the current bill proposals and sending an email to your MPs. Consider this a daily meditation practice of your basic civil rights, because without exercising them, you will be losing them quickly.

I don't care how tired or busy you feel. Everyone is exhausted and busy-- It a basic tenet of capitalism and part of why they believe they can quickly push these bills through.

Do this, not just for yourself, but for future generations who will bear the weight of these heavy political shifts.

Canadians should be deeply aware and writing a shit ton of letters to their MPs regarding bill C-2 / the CLOUD agreement right now. If you don't want to be entrenched in the fascism sweeping south of the border you will fight this bill with your life.

Not only for Canadians, but for Americans and other refugees seeking safety and asylum. Do not allow Carney to turn Canada into a police surveillance state.

There are currently a load of bills being tabled to strip you of your rights and privacy. You need to act before this becomes reality. This is the work you are required to do when we say now is the time when voting is simply not enough.
