#Cheviot Hills today - mostly dry fortunately given the cold wind. Hardy shorthorn heifers on the hill.

Winter sunlight on dun grasses in a range of small hills. There is a faint rainbow coming in from the left with a shorthorn (dark red) heifer in the centre of the picture.

Wide and deep view across southern Scotland from Coldsmouth Hill (England). Very green with good shadows showing the relief. Near right side is a hill fort, Green Humbleton. A prominent hill in the distance, Hownam Law is also fortified. Very lumpy terrain under scattered clouds.

A walk up The Cheviot, the only good thing about walking up The Cheviot is that you then don't have to ever walk up it again for at least 20 years. Then back around Hedgehope, which I think was the first place I wild camped on my own? about 20 years ago.

About 17km I think, but the hills were absolutely crowded today, I saw at least 3, maybe 4, other people in 5 hours of hiking

Here's some of my #handspun #yarn. It's from raw #cheviot #wool that I skirted, washed, combed, and #handspun. I made them into mini-skeins and then dyed them (right to left in the picture) with turmeric, #cochineal, #madder, marigolds, tea, a combo of the leftover marigold and some pomegranate on the tea base, and then two via a commercial tincture dip in green.
