Today in #ChoiceParalysis, I've been waffling over a new #monitor to buy for home. I broadly know what I want (32”, 4K, flat, not-ultra-wide), but am unsure how to evaluate monitors with built-in #KVM switches* and the ports that they provide.
(Why-y-y-y hasn't everything moved to use USB-C/Thunderbolt for everything already? What is this DisplayPort/HDMI nonsense?)
This is mainly for #HomeOffice work; I do very little gaming, and basically zero gaming of the sort where the monitor makes a big difference.
I want to be able to switch between a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini, using a wired keyboard and a wireless mouse. (Having a separate mouse for each computer is fine; a separate keyboard is not.)
The leading contenders after all the reading I've done are:
- #BenQ PD3220U https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/professional/pd3220u.html
- #Dell U3223QE https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-ultrasharp-32-4k-usb-c-hub-monitor-u3223qe/apd/210-bdph/monitors-monitor-accessories
Currently leaning towards the BenQ.
I have a feeling that either of these will be more than enough for my needs.
