This study says that the climate is MORE THAN TWICE as sensitive to CO2 emissions as the IPCC planning currently assumes.
The IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) stated that there is high confidence that ECS is within the range of 2.5°C to 4°C, with a best estimate of 3°C.
This study says 8°C.
In case anyone is still counting on carbon capture happening (*cough* IPCC *cough*)

50 homes have been washed away with at least 110 people dead in Mokwa, Central West Nigeria.
This morning, four brave supporters of Just Stop Oil were sentenced to a total of 90 months in prison for an action that never even happened. Daniel, Indigo, Margaret, and Ella were arrested last summer for an attempted action at Manchester Airport and have been held in prison on remand since.
Their trial was overseen by Judge McAdam who stated he was 'neutral' on the topic of climate breakdown and that he 'didn't have time' to read scientific reports on it. Hardly a fair trial when the defendant's actions are guided by climate science. The case came to a close today with the judge delivering custodial sentences to all defendants. 30 months in prison for Indigo Rumbelow, 24 months for Daniel Knorr, and 18 months for both Ella Ward and Margaret Reid along with £2,000 costs for each of them--totalling £8,000 in costs.
They've all spent 294 days in prison on remand since being arrested last summer. They've been removed from their lives, their families, lost their jobs and are facing ongoing legal bills--all for thinking about acting out of love, acting in the face of climate collapse. Now they need our support.

Sea level rise will become unmanageable at just 1.5C of global heating and lead to “catastrophic inland migration”
...the new analysis found that even if fossil fuel emissions were rapidly slashed to meet [1.5C], sea levels would be rising by 1cm a year by the end of the century, faster than the speed at which nations could build coastal defences.
The researchers said the “safe limit” temperature for ice sheets was hard to estimate but was likely to be 1C or lower.
Sea level rise of at least 1-2 metres was now inevitable, the scientists said.
“Continued mass loss from ice sheets poses an existential threat to the world’s coastal populations.”
