Privacy can feel like a lot when you’re first learning about it. Was there anything that helped you move past that feeling?

Built a rough UI mock for the backup confirmation screen today. Still simple, but it feels like the direction is starting to take shape.

If you don’t use it, you can switch off “nearby device scanning.” It reduces how much your phone reaches out to nearby Bluetooth devices and adds a bit of privacy control.

I wonder if people would try privacy-friendly tools more often if they were simpler, or is the barrier something else? What do you think?

Today I discovered you can disable background data for individual apps. It’s a small change, but a nice reminder that we get to choose what our phone sends out.

Every week teaches me something new about how much data phones quietly send out. I’m building 121Drop to give people more control. Want to follow along? 🔗 is.gd/W9NUK9

Your phone’s advertising ID acts like a tracker for ad networks. You can reset or disable it entirely. This small change has a major impact to your privacy.

One thing I’ve learned is that the hardest part of privacy isn’t adjusting the settings but changing the habits. Do you feel the same?

Today I mapped out how 121Drop detects external drives. Still early, but it’s cool seeing the pieces connect.

Simple privacy tip I learned today. Clearing your browser’s “site permissions” removes trackers you forgot you approved months ago.

Do you think people ignore privacy because it’s confusing or because it feels “too late” to fix?

Today I learned that turning off ad-personalization reduces how much companies track across apps. Still early in my privacy journey, but each step feels like taking back a little more control.

This week reminded me that digital privacy is really a set of small habits, not big leaps. If you want to follow along as I build 121Drop for local, offline backups, here’s where I’m collecting early interest: 🔗 is.gd/W9NUK9

Something I learned today. You can reduce data exposure on social platforms by turning off location tagging by default. This small change makes a massive impact.

Sometimes the hardest part of digital privacy is knowing where to start. What was the first step you took when you started caring more about your data?

It looks like I'm going with Seagate. Barracuda even makes a 5TB laptop drive that is quite affordable.

I'd love to get some history and some dissenting opinions, though, because I've been avoiding Seagate like the plague since at least 2010.

They used to have a high failure rate. I was very loyal to HGST or Western Digital Blue before I switched to SSDs, which are pretty much a necessity for the OS on my Librebooted X400 now if I want to use it as a daily driver.

Progress update from today. I’m working on the early flow for local backups on Android. Still rough, but exciting to see the idea take shape. If you use Android, what’s one backup frustration you have?
