As a #cradle #Episcopalian (meaning I was born into, raised in & remain an active member of the #EpiscopalChurch or #TEC in the U.S.) I have a solid faith background. I’m not sure I’d call it strong but attending church on Sunday & participating in the various observations/rhythms of the liturgical year are my experience & foundational aspects of who I am. I have also been blessed with a reasonably robust religious education supplemented by personal inquiries (like my current musings on #sin ). At the same time, I feel utterly unqualified to be having this discussion, even with myself.
Sin isn’t a popular topic among Episcopalians. We don’t spend a lot of time expounding on what sin is or expanding on what that means.
We probably should.
Don’t misunderstand me. We acknowledge (& know) that sin exists. We just don’t talk about it. As a result, few of us understand it. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that we don’t use it to judge or as a club to bludgeon others either. 4/?
