While at the Seattle Japanese Garden, we viewed a small art exhibit of Kiri-E, the Japanese folk art of cut-paper art. Basically it is drawing an image on paper, then cutting it out with a sharp knife. Okay, I got the Silhouette working and have figured it out well enough to do a basic cut of Pee-wee, though I’ve got more planning to do as this needs at least two more layers to work. I’m extremely happy with the heavy cardstock I used here, and it’s going to be just fine to gel print on so I’ll be able to switch up how I make art papers, or I can glue the more delicate papers to something heavier.
