Anxiety Tip #24: Making a pros and cons list is a tool to help make a decision when feeling stressed and anxious about it.... rons-home.net/en/living-life-l [Next Tip Dec 21 2025]

Yesterday I read an announcement about a dataset of all buildings on Earth derived from remote sensing.

Of course I looked.

Definitely do *not* do your metrics based on it.

And I *beg* of you, remote sensing people, please stop doing this!

Every. single. time it is the same. At least this one said on the tin "things might be wrong".

...still, these datasets go straight into models used by people who don't check.

🚨 “We don’t need a strategy!”

If you’ve ever heard this — or said it — Roger Martin has a wake-up call for you.

His piece “Strategic Nihilism: Watch Out Because It’s Delusional & Destructive” exposes a dangerous mindset:
👉 the belief that strategy is impossible or unnecessary in a fast-moving world.

💡 Spoiler: even “no strategy” is a strategy — just an unexamined one.

In multiple experiments, people rated slow deliberative thinkers as more intelligent and trustworthy than rapid intuitive thinking. This was itself an intuitive response.

Winners decide faster. At 70 percent information confidence not 90 percent. Why? Speed creates feedback velocity. More feedback improves future decisions more than perfect analysis. That's the fifth edge.
