This is such a, "uh yeah, duh," thing, although it's nice to see researchers putting a magnifying lens on it, even though it won't affect policy because the people making the rules just don't care. The diminishing of critical thinking (at least speaking in regards to the U.S.A.) has basically been an essential part of our consumerist, capitalist-centric society. The people at the top don't care to have an intelligent populace really, they mostly care about profits and keeping people at the bottom right where they are, struggling while making them money while barely making a living. This is America.

Conspiracy theories are found with all political stripes. Confirmation bias is strong as most of us want to think the worse of our opponent. Stop and sit on hands think rationally before letting your amygdala do the thinking for you and give your Prefrontal cortex time.
It's really fascinating to witness the destruction of the "Pagan Movement" in real time through the uncritical acceptance and adoption of capitalism.
People deserve to be compensated for their skills and knowledge but fuck me, the jump to grifting is really just a small hop.
Paganism as a community enterprise in its current form is dead. We need to pick through the bones and ashes and build something newer and better.
Enough looking back, we desperately need to focus on the here and now, as well as building a stronger and more inclusive future.
Words on a screen. Outrage on a loop. But have we actually seen the power players bleed for the chaos they cause? Or do they just count on us to do it for them?
