some american ebay sellers: i know you're just trying to do what's easiest, but using "ebay international shipping" (aka. global shipping program) is going to cost you more money than your item is worth.

the way the GSP works is: you send your parcel to an ebay warehouse where it is relabelled and sent to the international destination. it sounds good on paper, and it's a disaster for you and your customer.

the ebay's Global Shipping Program cost $75 CAD, and went from the seller's home, and got stuck in chicago for two weeks without tracking, and then magically reappeared in Carol Stream today. it barely has travelled 1000 km in 3 weeks, and has 2500 km to go

it's going to arrive here 1 month late (purchased well in advance for christmas), and the seller is going to have to refund the order. it will cost them more than the item is worth in the end.

the alternative? send it yourself. this parcel normally takes about 7 days from NJ to western canada when sent via USPS First-Class Package Int'l. it costs about $30 CAD. no middle-man.

sellers: please, save yourself hassles, time and money, and just offer your own international shipping. ebay automatically fills out the customs paperwork for you. 😩
