Map of Pannulus.

A “throwaway” island (Sancthor) on the Tremjara map from 2002 to 2015, during the 2017 coloration project the idea for an archipelago sparked. So, I added it in miniature.

In 2018, I tackled the full-size project & completed it in months. vastly increasing the size, & adding marvelous detail. In 2020, I removed the trees that hindered reading it, creating the Pannulus of today.

The first ever image of the Island of Sancthor from 2002. This was created using Paint. The island is shaped like a slightly bent teardrop, is a dark green, has a single lake with a river that flows south, and has scattered mountains. The mainland is partially visible and is a lighter green.

Sancthor Island is shown from the revamped map in 2015 that was created with Photoshop Elements. This time, the image is black and white, but with the water blue. The island still has the slightly bent teardrop shape. Again, there's a single lake with a river flowing out of it and scattered mountains.

In addition, this time, there are rivers flowing into the lake and tree symbols covering the island.

In 2017, while performing the colorization project, Sancthor Island gained its distinctive rightward facing arrowhead shape. The western half is the same, but the island now extends to the right with higher mountains at center and more lakes, rivers, and tree symbols. In addition, two other large island have been added, one above and one below, along with quite a few smaller islands. Although detail is scarce, the archipelago at last has its final, rounded shape. This was also done in Photoshop Elements.

A color map of the archipelago Republic of Pannulus, which is located off the northeast coast of the Continent of Tremjara. The roughly circular island group is surrounded by the Veiled Sea to the west, Greenwall Strait to the northwest, Oln Strait to the southwest, and the Titania Ocean elsewhere.

Of the over twenty islands, the primary island, Sancthor, is larger than the others combined at about sixty percent. Centered in the group, and shaped like an arrowhead, it points into the ocean. Enormous Lake Arcana is in the west, the nation’s capital, Arthune, on its eastern shore. To the south where the arrowhead narrows is the Vortex Gulf. The Mysquanmic Vortex is located there and influences all aspects of Pannulus life. The Eventide Mountains dominate its center.

The next two largest islands, about equal in size, make up over thirty percent of Pannulus. Shorus, shaped like a bucking bronco, its tail to the north and head low, is in the extreme south and separated from Sancthor by the Akasha Sea. The Evertree Mountains fill its center. Subtonia Island, the fifth largest island, is between the bronco’s legs. Scurpia Island, shaped like a scorpion, its pincers facing northwest, is in the north, the Spinal Range running along its length. It’s separated from Sancthor Island by the Nevermist Sea and Ryskor Sea.

Also separating Scurpia from Sancthor is Serpent Island, the nation’s fourth largest. The country’s other islands are scattered.

I now have a gimp map at good scale for all three continents in my ttrpg setting's starting world. I've had a "world map" for a while but only one continent had a more detailed map. Now the other regions that aren't just empty ocean exist.

That doesn't mean they're ready for use, and the way I created the others mean the world map's scale is kinda off (projections suck). It does however mean I'm far fewer hours from at least a world poli atlas. (I think atlas is the term, I intend to provide several mapped sections instead of a world map to players.)

I'll post images later. However I started at like 10a and its nearly 3p. I need a snack.

Black and White, large fantasy map.
Depicts one large land mass, Kingdoms of Aetherium in the middle, and beginning of another to the left called The Fjordlands. All of the kindoms are pointed with white, flowing banners with hand written texts. The map depicts tall mountains like the Dragon's Teeth, a large lake, Shadow Fen, large masses of forests where each tree is drawn one-by-one, cities, one active volcano, and somewhat 3D coastline that rises and lowers basd on the elevation. In the three seas are two monsters - a siren, and tentacles of a Kraken. Each detail is perfectly designed for the client's tastes and story needs. In the bottom right is a stylized compass with a flowing banner fabric behind it.

Regional maps can focus on smaller areas and still beg to be explored! A lore rich setting is the most powerful storytelling tool you can use to create immersive and engaging adventure. A map is an effective way to help bring that world to life!

While suffering from a bug over the weekend I decided, for no obvious reason other than that I was too tired to go outside, to redo a map I made several years ago. The colour choices in the original were extremely awful.
