#Gnome #Files (#Nautilus) has a bulk rename tool for some time now, but literally every single time I try to use it I fail. Really, everytime I need to rename batch of files, I try it first in this tool, I recognize that my task is not possible done in it and than start totalcmd in wine just for this simple operation.
Are my needs so advanced? I don't think so.
For example now I want to add xml extension to all badly named log files. Impossible.

Nautilus bulk rename dialog with search and replace that doesn't support regex, so it's useless for my current taskNautilus bulk rename dialog with rename pattern definition that omits current extension so it can never be changed. Useless for my task.

Hello,

In newly installed Linux environment, while checking out files in the configuration folder /etc, I noticed files that ended with a hyphen, and for which there was an unhyphenated version. I am a newby to Linux, and I am wondering what is the meaning of the hyphenated vs. the unhyphenated ones?

/etc/passwd-
/etc/gshadow-
/etc/group-

/etc/subgid
/etc/subuid
/etc/shadow
/etc/passwd
/etc/gshadow
/etc/group

I did a stat for both file versions and I have pasted the information below:

@RWSverkeersinfo
