Looking west along George Street at sunset as it passes through the campus of Strathclyde University in central Glasgow.

This photo, which I took back in January, is now available as a mounted print from my website at thisismyglasgow.com/product/st.

***Trigger Warning: This post mentions the C word, and it's only October!***

I now have a range of Glasgow-themed Christmas cards available on my website. You can choose between a pack of 4 featuring the city's Christmas lights from previous years, or a pack of 4 of Glasgow in the snow (or just go for both in a bumper 8-pack!). You can find then here: thisismyglasgow.com/product-ca.

I'll be doing the Byres Road Market again this Saturday (4th October). It's at Hillhead Library between 11am and 4pm. As well as the usual books, prints and cards, I'll be selling copies of my 2026 calendars.

It's that time of year when I'm busy sorting out calendars based on my photos from around Glasgow. As well as last year's Gushet Building one, I'll also be producing ones featuring Glasgow's Art Deco Buildings, Glasgow's Architectural Sculptures and Tenement Tiles. These will be available to pre-order soon and can be shipped to UK and overseas addresses. Unfortunately, it looks like we won't be able to ship to the US though.

I'll be selling prints of some of my photos from around Glasgow at the Byres Road Market in Hillhead Library this Saturday (11am until 4pm), including this one featuring a collection of my favourite Glasgow gushet buildings. For those of you who've followed me for a while, it'll be no surprise that this is one of the subjects I've chosen for my first venture into producing prints! 😀

In total, there are about 3,500 grave markers in the Necropolis, but around 50,000 people were buried here, so the majority lie in unmarked common graves like this one.

Love this flower memorial which is being created in the Necropolis, Glasgow's main Victorian cemetery. It marks a common grave where 8,094 people were interred. When visiting the Necropolis, it's easy to focus on the ornate monuments created for the upper echelons of Glasgow society set on the top of the hill and forget that this was a burial place for all.

The former Office and Hostel for the Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society on John Knox Street in Glasgow. Built in the 1890s and designed by Campbell Douglas to look like a 16th Century Scottish Tower House, it's reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Scotland.

Two photographs taken one rather loud car horn blast apart!

They're of the central gable on the old Calder Street Public School building in the govanhill area of Glasgow.

Two photographa of the same crowstepped gable in the middle of a building. In the first a large number od pigeons can be seen perched and equal intervals along the stepped gables as if purposely arranged that way. In the second, the pigeons have all taken flight and are all over the place.

Tonight's sunset at the Finnieston Crane in Glasgow.

There's only a week or so on either side of the Winter Solstice when the sun goes down like this directly behind the crane and it's even rarer for this to happen when the weather's clear enough to see it!

Ornamental railings of the Necropolis on Wishart Street in Glasgow. This design always reminds me of half-peeled bananas. I have no idea why one of them is painted red, or who did it.

Former warehouse on Trongate in Glasgow. Built in 1899 in the Edwardian Free style for the City Improvement Trust. It was designed by John McKissack and Son. I particularly like the curvaceous gable with all the obelisk finials on it.

The towers and turrets of Kelvingrove Art Gallery in the west end of Glasgow. This is one of those buildings I'll never tire of photographing as changes in the light hitting it means it has a slightly different look every time I pass it, even if it's only a few minutes later.
