One of the twin cranes in Södra hamn (South Harbour) is being kept as a monument of Luleå's past as a vital port town. And rightly so! At this occasion, I used one of the several kicksleds kindly on loan. They're down there on the ice, you just grab one and kick off. Boy, what a bliss! When I grew up (way way further south than this), you'd use a kicksled instead of a bike in winter. You'd ride it to the grocery store or anywhere. These days, what with all the thorough salting and sanding, you have to drive your kicksled to some frozen lake in order to ride it. I was beginning to believe I'd never use one again in my life, so I was in heaven. I could have kicked the full 10 kilometres and back. Maybe next winter I will.
Oh, and also, Luleå is home port of our icebreaker fleet during summer. At present, though, they're all out working around the country.

<p>Scissors, including shears, are hand tools use for cutting by bringing two cutting edges to bear on the sheet or object being cut. Originally they were all shears, effectively hinged at the end further from the blades, when open like a <strong>V</strong>. They have been largely replaced by scissors that rotate around a pivot between their handles and blades, when open like an <strong>X</strong>. However, in normal usage terminology is inconsistent, with heavyweight <strong>X</strong>-based scissors used in gardening and horticulture being referred to as <em>shears.</em> Scissors weren’t made in large numbers until the later half of the eighteenth century, since when they have become widely used.</p>
<p>In this article I will ignore farming and industrial uses of shears, for example to harvest wool from sheep or cut sheet metal (also known as <em>snips),</em> and concentrate more on domestic uses of lightweight shears and scissors. These are most strongly associated with cutting fabrics, yarn and threads, and all forms of fibre craft.</p>
<p>In classical myth, they appear in the weaving contest between Arachne and the goddess Minerva.</p>

Auf einer Wiese steht ein Kranich, welcher gerade sein Gefieder putzt. Sein Kopf ist nach links geneigt und der Schnabel im Gefieder versteckt. Das Federkleid ist teilweise rötlich-braun gefärbt. Die Färbung stammt von Tonerden, mit welchen sich manche skandinavischen Kraniche, ihre Federn zum Zwecke der Tarnung, in einer deckungsarmen Umgebung, färben.
