#GoodDay. Is it FreeDay or Friday? I'm' officially sort of retrenched...Columbus Consulting/Technologies is restructuring, so most of the recruitement crew is layed off. However, since they need my services on PlacementPartner/the offline sharepoint database, they are employing me on a certain amount per CV. So yes, the pay will be less than what I got while working for them permanently, but I'm free of micromanagers. A couple of years ago, there was a pair of beatles songs that they said weren't released while the beatles were together. The one song started with the words: Free, as a bird. I wouldn't say I'm totally bird-free, but I'm more free than what I was for the last six months, which to me is a bonus. I can also do extra consultancy work for tech support at several companies that I recently saw were looking for Accessibility consulting within South Africa. So, I'd play that free as a bird song of the beatles, especially now that I'm free of Columbus's computer, plus my DolphinScreenReader SMA/ServiceMaintenanceAgreement is due for renewal at the end of this month, but since Columbus isn't renewing my contract, and I need to send their computer back to them before 25 March, I'm not going to renew that SMA either. Overall I'd say that's freedom. I can use NVDA on my own computers whenever consulting is needed from columbus side, I don't have to report every little thing I do, or take leave for going to brush my teeth to a manager who's more like a control freak rather than a manager who leads by example. I'd likely not be on mastodon as much any more, because I am not forced to remain on my pc whether there is work or not, but I still am around. Those who have my telegram can find me there. Why am I tired? My body isn’t.

Today all I did was browse the Internet, pop to the community allotment cabin and drink some tea (and chat), then go and help move the last of my dad’s paintings.

Somehow, that last bit took it out of me. I didn’t even do any heavy lifting.

My only guess is that it was the emotional component of finishing my departed dad’s flat (apartment for those across the pond) and drawing a line under that task.
