#handtool

This week's #handtool #woodworking project is a couple of caddies for our glass food storage container lids.

The Rubbermaid Brilliance containers are very nice, though somewhat heavy and bulkier than plastic (but plastic, gross). However, their lids tend to fall into a pile unless corralled.

Made from scraps of spalted maple laying around the shop, it reinforces my belief of Never Throw Any Wood Scraps Away.

Many thanks to @tomhoworth !

The link has helped. The parts were included with my purchase. The pictures show how it works with the two narrow planing knives. I also took the opportunity to understand that there are even pre-cutters on the planer body that can be moved to the skid. A really great .

Hello friends of and
I recently bought a Stanley No. 50 combination planer. When I tested it, I found that everything works great with the 1/4" and larger knives. With the smaller ones, the planer knives cannot be clamped firmly. Now I'm wondering whether I'm doing something wrong or whether the planer is broken.
Does anyone have any tips?

I found this one person crosscut logging saw in an abandoned cabin on the property. The handle was ruined by bugs and exposure to weather and the blade covered in rust. But a little time with a grinder with a wire wheel and the rust-b-gone! I also made a more better handle for it, but still needs the assist handle.

I do plan to take it for a test cut, but I need to get the tooth setting jig and sharpen the teeth first.

After using the miter saw for the lap joint, I felt like doing some #handtool #woodworking. First I marked my cut lines on the „x“ and the cut aways also with „x“ (x-ception…oh wait 😅) the first cuts I made with my Dozuki, but I changed to my Ryoba later, because it was way better fit for the job of cutting out the tenons.

I’ve had this Jenks & Cattell stainless steel hand fork for 40 years and it’s as good as ever, except that the wooden handle has pretty much had it. The rectangular-section shank is of a piece with the working end and the cap is copper by the look of it. Any thoughts on ways to repair or replace the handle that don’t involve gaffer-tape?

Adventures in evening #handtool #woodworking continue. My dutch tool chest is slowly talking form. Every step is an opportunity to practice various techniques. Mortise tenon dovetail dado rabbet molding, experimenting with Milk paint and chalk paint. I have enjoyed this project but, for lack of time, I've been dragging this project for too long. Almost done. Almost done...
