So I've got this old mid-2015 MacBook Pro Retina. I have a newer mac which is in fine condition, but I've kept the old one around because the hardware still seems quite good (or at least it did until the battery died recently).
I am aware that Apple recalled the battery on this model at some point, but according to Apple, my laptop's serial number is ineligible for a replacement. I originally bought it (from Apple) as a refurbished model back in (I think) 2016, so perhaps the battery was already replaced at that time.
Anyway, I decided to try to replace the battery, and ordered a new one from ifixit. I read several repair guides (including the ifixit one), watched some tutorial videos, and decided to attempt the work today.
It's a good thing I didn't just leave the old laptop sitting on a shelf, because once I'd opened it, I observed the old battery is quite swollen and probably also quite hazardous. Feeling kind of scared now, tbh. Any words of advice or encouragement?
