3 I’ve also always been kind of intrigued by the fact that #GarlandJeffreys and his band worked on #VintageViolence, so after finishing that album, I listened to Jeffreys’ #GhostWriter, a small masterpiece of self-aware pop/rock versatility. #JohnCale
2 ... without committing to any of them. I hear the same kind of thing on the first #solo #album by #NeilYoung. #music #JohnCale #albums #rock #rockmusic #70srock
1 Just listened to Vintage Violence by #JohnCale. I've always found it an enigmatic piece of work, similar in that respect to his "magnum opus" #Paris1919. But I'm increasingly hearing VV as a versatile, multi-talented #musician exploring some of the #musical options available to him ... 🧵 #music

John Cale feat. Weyes Blood:
🎵 Story Of Blood (Radio Edit)
OK, so that was pretty damn epic. Heavy, psychedelic, weird, industrial and rockin' like a bag of bastards. And all the time you're thinking "that's John Cale from The Velvet Underground!"
Highlights, for me, were a strange, dark deconstruction of Elvis' Heartbreak Hotel and a new track ("Company Commander") that blew the roof off the place.
Also it was John Fucking Cale from The Velvet Underground! That was a bit of a highlight too.
Awaiting John Cale.
Heading to Vicar Street this evening to see John Cale. I have no idea what he'll be playing (not checked any set-lists) but whatever it is, I suspect I'll be glad I went.

“John Cale is 83 years old. Live, it would be more than understandable to find a #musician of that age in a period of slowing down and winding up, cranking out the hits to please old fans. #JohnCale is absolutely not doing that.” www.theguardian.com/music/2025/m... #music
John Cale review – 83 years ol...
Get well soon, #JohnCale
Ganz sicher keine Abschiedstour des 83-jährigen Walisers: #JohnCale hat sich seine kreative Energie bis heute bewahrt. Im #Theaterhaus liefert er einen souveränen Auftritt mit majestätischer Grandezza ab.
