Quick reminder that there’s an incredible #JohnHowe art exhibit currently at #tamperetalo in Finland - and it is open until the 18th of August. It showcases hundreds of his paintings & drawings, including several created for #RobinHobb stories.

John Howe, l’illustrateur de Tolkien

Formé aux Arts Déco de Strasbourg, l'illustrateur canadien John Howe est non seulement un spécialiste de l’univers créé par Tolkien, mais il est surtout un illustrateur hors-pair. Il a été consultant et directeur artistique des deux trilogies réalisées par Peter Jackson au cinéma, "Le Seigneur des anneaux" et "Le Hobbit". Grâce à ses illustrations, John Howe a littéralement mise en images l'œuvre littéraire de Tolkien. Son travail a profondément influencé tout ce qui a trait d’un point de vue graphique à l'héroic fantasy (médiéval fantastique), que ce soit au cinéma, à la télé (la série "Game of Thrones" lui doit beaucoup), ou encore dans la bande dessinée et les jeux vidéo. L'ensemble de son travail fait actuellement l’objet d’une vaste rétrospective à Landernau jusqu’au 28 janvier 2024.

Le Fonds Leclerc pour la culture à Landerneau, dans le Finistère présente sa nouvelle exposition : Sur les traces de Tolkien et de l'imaginaire médiéval. 250 dessins et peintures de John Howe qui a collaboré à la création du Seigneur des Anneaux et le Hobbit avec le cinéaste Peter Jackson sont à découvrir jusqu'au 28 janvier.

À l'occasion de l'ouverture de l'exposition "Sur les traces de #Tolkien et de l'imaginaire médiéval, peintures et dessins de #JohnHowe", Tolkiendil a été invité afin de découvrir en avant-première les quelques 250 peintures, dessins et illustrations de ce dernier, exposées au Fonds Hélène et Edouard Leclerc pour la culture, à Landerneau (29).
Nous avons également pu en profiter pour interviewer John Howe et aborder avec lui plusieurs aspects de son travail.
