Omfg what a pile of shite Bing search has become!?
For $reasons I had to reset my browser at work, and it's edge... Mein Gott that was horrible.

#kagi #kagisearch
I've been using kagi.com for a few months now and it is truly a great product. The search engine works great, but I've been really impressed by kagi translate. This is by far the best translation app I've ever used, and imo a great companion app for language learning.
When the product is so good, your forget the years of conditioning of using the word Google instead of search.

SlopStop: Community-driven AI slop detection in Kagi Search

If you're also annoyed that @kagihq does not let you turn off/remove the AI features from your Kagi UX then this might be something for you:
Has anybody found a way to set #Kagi #kagisearch as the search engine for the Search Bar on Android? I have the Kagi Search app installed but it's not offered in the bar's settings.

Not liking the Quick Answer change @kagihq made this week. It feels like I'm being pushed towards starting an Assistant conversation whenever I end a search with a question mark. #kagisearch #kagi
While Kagi's inbuilt redirect feature is pretty cool (see https://mastodon.social/@kagihq/115369596582885011 ) I certainly prefer the LibRedirect addon in my browsers (desktop and mobile) when it comes to redirecting to privacy respecting frontends.
Too often instances of these frontends are unavailable. With this addon you can preselect a list of alternatives or actively choose another one, if an instance is currently unusable.
Sadly circumventing privacy invasive web services is a neverending race.
I wouldn't want to change redirects within Kagi's settings page all the time...
Kagi's feature is great anyway; can be used for other purposes of course.
Salut le fediverse francophone !
Est-que vous utilisez le moteur de recherche payant Kagi ?
Est-ce que les résultats en français sont satisfaisants ?

Anyone here a @kagihq search convert? Considering making the switch but would love to hear some anecdotal stuff. What did you use before? Things you like? Things you maybe miss or not working like you’d expect? Give me the deets both good and bad!
Oh no, Kagi Search, the world-renowned purveyor of unnecessary outages, stumbles yet again! 🚨🤖 Who knew a "search" engine could be so hard to "find"? 🙃 Meanwhile, their uptime stats are as reliable as a paper umbrella in a hurricane. ☔️

@cstross @aeva it’s honestly shocking that people would read this and think it’s a good idea. And it’s even worse that suggestions like that are actually allowed to be produced..
You won’t get the AI bullshit out of google but given how (needlessly) dependent a large portion of people on the internet are on it you’d hope they would at least try to assure some quality in its hallucinations.
hides in their #kagisearch shaped bubble
in other kagi stats info, you can clearly see what the audience for it is when you look at the most pinned website. the top one is: wikipedia. makes sense.
but it's followed by things like: mozilla's developer website, hacker news, the arch linux wiki, github, stackoverflow and so on. it's a lot of dev stuff. you got the minecraft wiki in there, too, (the good one, too, not the fandom one) which is cute.

if you look at kagi stats of which domains gets blocked the most, the first seven are all pinterest domains. followed by tiktok, then foxnews and breitbart. which, hey, the last two in particular, i'm all for. 🔥
but what's up with pinterest? i'm not really familiar with this website, all i know is that it's a place for pictures of some sort? why the hatred for it? i heard that it's been flooded by ai bullshit, like everything else, but from what i understand, the hate predates all of that. it doesn't seem to come up that often to me.
i'm genuienly curious. do you dislike pinterest, too? to the point of purely blocking it? why?
The Kagi search engine is in the zeitgeist. While we cooked dinner, I told Partner I was thinking of moving to Kagi and asked if he'd like to try it out with me. He demurred, saying he'd read about a different search engine he'd like to try, but he couldn't remember its name.
Comes back later with a link to an Ars Technica article. Turns out it was Kagi all along :p #kagisearch #searchengines
