I've noticed I've been reading a lot more lately. I think its providing an escape from this dystopian cesspool that is 'Murica at the moment.
Last month I finished a Murakami novel (Killing Commendatore) and now I'm wrapping up the first book in The Dandelion Dynasty (The Grace of Kings). Killing Commendatore was enthralling and I love how Murakami puts these rather boring main characters into Kafka-esque worlds and scenarios. Not to mention the music selection is great. First time I ever listened to opera music and read a novel.
Currently hooked on the Dandelion Dynasty and plan on reading the rest of the series. I discovered Ken Liu as he translated Cixin Liu's The Three Body Problem series (also highly recommend) and I finally started reading his works. Great start so far.
If you have any suggestions on what I should add to the queue, send them over!

The Literomancer by Ken Liu is a short story about how little girls are mean and middle aged men are even meaner.
Okay, no it's not, that's a terrible summary. But it is a captivating, emotionally-charged story from The Paper Menagerie, which I have just added to my list of favorites.

A Book for Our Time, written in 400 BC (only $2 on sale đ€)
If you want to get away from our present world, check out Laoziâs âDao De Jingâ, âa compassionate soul in a world torn by hatred and ambition, dominated by those that yearned for apocalyptic confrontations and prized ideology over experience
By speaking out against the cleverness of elites and the arrogance of the learned, Laozi upheld the wisdom of the concrete, the humble, the quotidian, the everyday individual dismissed by the great powers of the world.â

I binged season 1 of Pantheon on Netflix this weekend, and wow! was it good. This is some of the best Singularity SF ever done. I read Ken Liuâs short stories it was based on before it came out. Those are also very good. #singularity #pantheon #netflix #kenliu

UrlaubslektĂŒre No 1: "The Wall of Storms" von #KenLiu . Das bessere Game of Thrones. #literatur #pnpde
Grabbed this 2016 collection while at the Eastside library before lunch. Read the Preface with my sandwich and chips.
> For me, fiction is about prizing the logic of metaphors â which is the logic of narratives in general â over reality, which is irreducibly random and senseless.

From a strange new virtual currency to an AIâs unexpected evolution, explore the future in this thought-provoking collection from authors like #KenLiu and #NnediOkorafor. Hailed upon publication as âprobably the best science fiction anthology of the yearâ (World Fantasy Awardâwinning editor Jonathan Strahan).
If you like SciFi and are interested in Chinese authors beyond Liu Cixin check out Hao Jingfang.
Also the collection of Chinese SF short stories translated by Ken Liu - âInvisible Planetsâ
Just finished Ken Liuâs compilation and translation of Chinese science fiction short stories âInvisible Planetsâ
Some great stories with profound meanings. I often find short stories to trigger more emotion and insight than full novels. Essays at the end of the book are very insightful.
Wonderful collection this one.
Next up is Vagabonds by Hao Jingfang
I just finished Cixin Liu's The Three-Body Problem (the first book). I'm generally not a huge SF fan but really enjoyed it.
I also loved this sentence in Ken Liu's "Translator's Postscript", it's such a beautiful way to describe literary translation.
