So, I read the three "Three Body Problem" books (there's probably a word for three consecutive linked works of art ... Matrix Resurrections).
The last book is definitely the best for story and storytelling (and the translator deserves an honourable mention (but I won't)).
However, I'm going to recommend that if you are not sure that it's worth reading any of them then you should read the very last part of the third book "Death's End". It's short-story-essay length. Doing that won't spoil your enjoyment of the series but it may even make you smile.

A long read about Three Body adaptations and the original work but worth it.
Anna made me realise something. One reason why the Netflix version failed (for me and those who enjoyed the original work) was that they didn't take the opportunity to use the same framework and create a commentary on US/European society.
I would've really loved to watch that!!
Instead, we got a clumsy photostat of the original, which fed into the current geopolitical commentary about China....which loses the point of the original story to begin with.

Have recently finished (and really enjoyed) #TheThreeBodyProblem by #Cixin. Can highly recommend if you like your #SciFi. Has some good science but (perhaps unusual for SciFi) some great reflection on personal journeys.
Really interested to see where #TheDarkForest goes.

Currently listening to the #SciFi audio book of #TheThreeBodyProblem / #三体 by #CixinLiu in German (#Trisolaris Trilogie) during my bike rides. I'm two-thirds through and it gets quite exciting and thought provoking. (I also maybe got a bit excited when a character briefly mentioned #OpenSource and #Linux in one sentence :D.)

I found Cixin Liu's 'Death's End' gripping, but also disappointing. It's full of brilliant SF inventiveness, but it's politically/philosophically simplistic, and it has a bizarrely essentialist approach to gender.

I'm reading "The dark forest", the second in the #scifi trilogy "The three body problem". One of the footnotes says the terrorist organisation Al Qaeda could have been named after Isaac Asimov's ""Foundation" trilogy. A bit of googling found that while by no means certain it could be true.
