Does anyone know if #Apple's #MagicTrackpad, the latest Type-C version, works perfectly on #Linux?

The prior version, which has a Lightning port, does work perfectly on Linux out of the box - even when running on an LTS kernel.

You'd think just a change of port wouldn't affect its usability, and I'm not sure if that might actually be the case on Linux, but on Apple's own platforms at least - you're forced to update to the latest version of #macOS, #iOS, and #iPadOS for the trackpad to fully work, multi-touch/gestures and all.

Pretty tempted to sell off mine, the black edition, sometime just so I could replace it with the Type-C version (also in black).

I am currently in the second week of exclusively utilizing my Magic Trackpad instead of a mouse.

I have implemented several custom gestures in BetterTouchTool to enhance my productivity, and I can confidently say that I have no intention of reverting to a mouse in the future.

Unlike the shitty #MagicMouse it doesn't take just a few mins to charge for days of runtime and unlike the #LaggyMouse by Apple it's not some unergonomically THINN piece of glass and metal that looks like some industrial designers interpretation of #squid #sushi but the #rice is being replaced by a polished Hematite

And yes, unlike the #MagicTrackpad, the Magic #Mouse is so laggy, you can literally see it without going crosseye, which is absurd cuz the Magic #Trackpad is super crisp and fast.

IMHO it should be illegal to put #ports in a position where they prevent the use of a device whilst charging!

Espechally on something like a #lamp that unlike an RC model car has no excuse for choosing between use and charge...

A rechargeable battery powered lamp with a very thick bottom and rim but it has the charging port on the bottom and doesn't use any fancy dock, so it's wobbling around and falling over whilst charging for no valid reason.

@NanoRaptor #Apple's #MagicMouse is an absolute #joke, and whilst I've seen people defend it's garbage design, I've yet to see anyone defend it's #lag, cuz the #laggyness is visible and doesn't happen with the #MagicTrackpad so it's not as if Apple doesn't know how to build #Bluetooth hardware either...

@rvdp @dubroy @nikitonsky it's about Apple choosing to keep the charging port on their "new" and "redesigned" Magic Mouse (with it's only magic being that it's the laggiest mouse @fuchsiii ever owned!) at the bottom which makes it impossible to use and charge at the same time, because "think different" means Apple refuses to acknowledge when things other do are good and when they do it differently it's not always an improvement!

Funnily, the Magic Trackpad doesn't lag at all and despite being S L I M M E R they still fit the charging port at the rear WHERE IT BELONGS - FFS!
