#MailMate spotted

I am also a longtime #MailMate user/fan. It was the first macOS MUA since Eudora became untenable that didn't make me want to find a new MUA. Nothing in the past dozen years has made me want to change. The best part of it is the author (Benny Kjær Nielson) who is an active and always helpful participant in the support mailing list.
(NOTE: I'm biased because he implemented literally *all* of the suggestions I gave him when I first tried it.) https://social.secret-wg.org/@olaf/114217255061061021
Client mail : MailMate passe la deuxième et adopte un abonnement http://dlvr.it/TJ382F #MailMate #ClientMail
#Email like it's the 2000s again? I am seriously considering adopting #neomutt alongside #offlineimap and #notmuch to help me deal with thousands of emails. I was a big fan of #mutt back in the day, until I started having to deal with HTML email (ugh) on a daily basis at work. I'll probably still use #MailMate when necessary for sending fancy emails, but sorting, filing, and archiving email is so much faster on the #commandline and #terminal.
A recent(ish?) change to Apple’s app-specific password setup — required in cases where 3rd-party calendar or mail apps are accessing system info — is that they no longer allow you to retrieve those passwords should you need to re-enter them (say on another device), so store them safely in Passwords.app or 1Password. The only option now is to revoke-and-regenerate which, depending on the sitation, could involve lots of tiresome fiddliness. #Apple #passwords #macOS #iOS #Fantastical #MailMate
Everything is Broken in #macOS, Chap. 653:
All of a sudden, banner-style notifications for some apps have (including #MailMate) have started appearingly only very FLEETINGLY on my Mac. In other words, instead of staying visible for a few seconds before going away, they go away as soon as they appear. Blink and you might miss them.
Banners for other apps still work as expected.

One of the things I really miss after moving to #Linux from macos is the power that #Mailmate gave me. #Thunderbird does get close but lacks a bunch of things. #Betterbird has been working well for my needs. One feature I miss is the distortion mode from Mailmate (https://freron.com/screenshots/) as I tend to share my screen a bit. Does anyone know of any plugin/setting that would help? Tried looking for loremipsum, obfuscate, etc., but to no avail.

I spent more time than I should have trying to figure out a workaround for snoozing on #MailMate.
Someone send me suggestions if you have any.

#LittleSnitch has a network filter that asks the user for approval of any connection for which it does not have an existing rule, matching the app, protocol, target IP, and port. It builds a ruleset from those choices. The problem it has is for cross-app requests like clicking a link in #MailMate for Safari to open: which app is the relevant one?
#IWeep6Colors #InfoSec… (2/3)
Found an interesting bug in #LittleSnitch, a connection gatekeeper for #macOS that I know many people in #InfoSec use and/or help others use.
If you have a program which is NOT a web browser (in my case, #MailMate, an excellent macOS MUA) in which you click an URL, the app dispatches that request to the OS, which figures out which app handles that sort of URL and opens it, telling it to fetch the URL. This falls into a gap in how LS works

Gave up on #macOS #Mail long ago myself and am a happy #MailMate user, but my wife still uses Apple’s software. Yesterday she complained about having to manually flag as junk a message that got through the cracks, and the simple act of selecting the message forced her to see a graphic picture of an enlarged penis.
I went to check how to stop Mail from auto-loading embedded pictures and I found this UI. So now you can no longer block remote content without DISABLING “Protect Mail Activity”?
TFW your shiny Mac Pro kernel panics when you try to initiate a screen recording, reboots automatically, resumes most apps, and then all of a sudden decides to display a notification for new mail arriving in #MailMate not as a BANNER, as specified in System Settings › Notifications, but… as an ALERT requiring user dismissal.
Of course, it only happens once and then things go back to normal.
Whatever, Apple, whatever…
I wish Apple’s mail.app wouldn’t just make my mac hot-af whenever I’m trying to use it. It’s the only app that makes mac unbearable hot and literally unusable. Tried #Thunderbird and #Mailmate but both of these lack conversation view like in gmail/mail.app.

I'm a #MailMate user, but I try to follow what's happening with #Thunderbird. I guess I'm an old fart, but the new layout they are introducing (albeit not as default) in version 115, aka "Supernova", does absolutely nothing to make me reconsider my choice of email app.
