Der Jurist und Autor war ein früher Vorkämpfer für die rechte queerer Menschen, forderte u.a. 1867 auf dem deutschen Juristentag die Straffreiheit gleichgeschlechtlicher sexueller Handlungen. Leider war der Verlauf der Geschichte bekanntermaßen anders als erhofft, doch bleibt mit ihm eine wichtige Figur der queeren Geschichte.

Today's #bikeride took me to 'Haus Horst' in #Mönchengladbach. It looks beautiful, especially when you consider that this former #knight's residence was first mentioned in a document dated 15 January 1338.
In 1988, a private clinic for psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychosomatics was established here.

Taking a trip down memory lane today. I love a good manor house, and I unearthed some research and photos of one that I visit in the summer of 2020.

This thread is about Burbiskis Manor in the Anyksciai region of Lithuania (a couple of other manors also go by this name in different districts).

The Burbiskis manor estate rose to prominence in the 18th century, when it was taken over by the Venclovavičius noble family and included the village of Burbiskis as well as other small villages in the region. It was during the middle of the 19th century, however, that the manor house got its current Neoclassical appearance, with its clean lines and symmetry. In the 1930s, the house and the surrounding land were sold to a farmer, and then to a Jesuit priest who established a school and a church there, until it was nationalized by the Soviet regime.
