Ok, newest action shots. Remember how I said that t was putting the top layer in place and it wasn’t so bad as the bottom layer? Except 2 sides were a little crumbly? Now employing ghe frosting again like a gooshy thin layer of cement patch on a foundation with cracks. Oh yes, our tiny Christmas tree had no place to fit except atop a cart of large appliances and covered with green drapery. I guarantee you this cake will look better but still fall apart on cutting. I follow directions usually so this one said to grease pans or use spray so I used a butter spray. I wish I’d gone with my instinct of using parchment paper. I didn’t add the flour after spraying maybe faulty logic. Since the batter was really thin I figured it would meld right into batter but maybe spray oil alone would be a little barrier batter vs steel pan.
To answer other questions, I waited the 10 minutes of cooling and added 5 minutes also. I’ve had bad experience going too little or too late. Right now I’m pretending the chocolate frosting for the “middle”is like a gooshy cement patch. The top layer mostly came out ok but a couple sides are a bit crumbly. So I’ll try to layer it on top. Frosting should cover a lot of sins. And it does taste great so we will eat it whether in messy triangle sections or globs, ha-ha! Like I said layering globs with pudding, whipped cream, or ice cream will also work. Glad this was not planned for a party, phew!

Halp! I made my first scratch cake in years and had a common malfunction in turning the cake out to a plate. #TipOfDay.
Even though I was ready with the special metal spatula and very small cookie spatula to assist in loosening ahead of time. Metal pans were sprayed with veg oil prior to filling. Filling was very thin batter as the recipe said. Toothpick came out clean so baked perfectly. I turned it out so I can salvage it as a layer cake. But if top layer does the same, we’ll parfait dessert instead.
Ideas? I almost cut parchment paper rounds for the bottom of the pans. Wish I had, now. 😢#Cake #Baking #Mistake

Running an experimental VM with a rolling release ubuntu server edition, only for the "experimental" VM to graduate to being "stable" and now having to face EOL distro upgrade woes every 9 months moving forward.

I really tried so hard, great walk with the dugs (ours and the neighbours who can not walk very far), lovely morning and I was aware of several (amongst many) stories that deserved attention.
