TL;DR: you wrote this on your post on the "mode cube":

It turns out that, rather magically, it is not tougher to draw, as long as you are only modulating within those four scales! Using L1-multidimensional scaling, you can embed the *entire set of all 28 modes* of these four scales in a 3D vector space in such a way that the L1 distance between every pair of points is preserved.
