One thing we are working on in the ATRIUM project is the assessment of non-traditional research outputs in the Humanities. I have written a blogpost to explain why, what and how: dariahopen.hypotheses.org/2113 #openmethods #ATRIUMproject #overlayjournals #openaccess #researchassessment cc @dariaheu

Sorry we′re open, come in we're closed: different profiles in the perceived applicability of open science practices to completed research projects doi.org/10.1098/rsos.230595

Interesting to see that apparently #OpenMethods is more applicable to a wider range of disciplines than #OpenAccess and #OpenData...

Yet Open Methods is rarely focused on in #OpenScience policies...

Table 2. Mean and standard deviation of agreement on the applicability of Open Science practices, where open methodology scores highest, before open access publication and open data.

Kicking off 2024 with a new :OpenAccess: publication in PeerJ!

Our survey found that researchers view the Methods section of published articles as inadequate to reproduce results or reuse techniques.

Yet more detailed methods information gets shared privately rather than publicly, limiting discoverability and equity.

How common is it for authors of scientific papers to share the step-by-step method they used to get their results?

The latest Open Science Indicator we've developed at @PLOS tries to answer this question at scale. We're inviting feedback on the approach we've taken.

As we have featured some lessons from Programming Historian (programminghistorian.org/) on #OpenMethods we are happy with this workshop to get a glimpse behind the scenes!
Lesson 1: The Programming Historian is not only for Historians
Lesson 2: It is hard but not undoable to keep something running like this for 15 Years
Lesson 3: Sustainability by Reuse facilitated by open principles is the key, translate, adapt, use in classes, open peer review, open source

Alíz @alizhorvathaliz kicking off today's openmethods edit-a-thon, introducing our mission and platform, then Christopher @chnunn discussing evaluation criteria, and then Ulrike @uwuttke leading a hands-on session creating new introductions to be published on the #openmethods website. We are so happy with the turn up, critical discussions, and results! 😀 👍 #digitalhumanities #dh2023
