Hey all, #OrgSoc is signing off today. Will be taking the server offline tonight. Has really been a pleasure to interact with so many of you. I think federated social media is such a better model and I hope to find a good space later if I decide to join another instance

I need a break from social media generally and def dont have capacity to admin and instance anymore

@praxis yeah, def feels diff w/ this fediverse instance, but there comes a time to let go (even when it's a lot more complicated than ditching some large corporation or toxic social media space).

I'll find a new fedi home though. I'm not a good mobilizer and #OrgSoc never grew into the space I hoped for. Would rather support other efforts

Data on the internet is such a weird thing. At times I mourn for content I've wiped from the web, and at other times this has felt very liberating. Github threads, Amazon reviews, fb posts, youtube comments, ancient xanga blog. All gone

Lots of shit online is written in ink, etched in digital stone, but at other times it's so impermanent

As I contemplate moving on from administering #OrgSoc (and consequently axing all that content), I feel sinultaneously deeply sad and relieved

@Luna @Wewereseeds I will give lots of heads up and if there's any data you want exported, I will 100% make sure you have what you need, but feeling pretty sure it's time for #OrgSoc's curtain call. Please dm me about how I can make this as smooth as poss

I wanna support a more developed space with my limited capacity and have a local timeline that's not just my ranting

I do not think I have the capacity to grow (or even maintain) a fediverse instance anymore. I really love some of the goals of #OrgSoc and the awesome ppl who made it more than just a personal instance, but I may be looking for a new home soon...

Could anyone recommend a solid space for one interested in community organizing? I occasionally post other things, but social media to me is really about connecting with others committed to personal and systemic change...

#OrgSoc going down for just a jiff for some maintenance... lol, still need to sort out letsencrypt cert renewal without having to stop nginx.

It is very low on a very long list of priorities

We take collaboration with law enforcement very seriously; we also care about due process and transparency

Whoever is taking action or putting forth their analysis, please know that process and documentation is critical here.

We can / must make principled and carefully considered decisions; we must document those efforts for the benefit of others on the #fediverse trying to make informed decisions

Hey all! #OrgSoc admin team needs a strong collaborative document editing tool that isn't from google. Doesn't have to have every bell and whistle, but something with collaborative document editing, comments, etc.

Encryption obv a plus but not essential. Doing some searching, but particularly looking for folks with direct experience using such a tool.
