#patchpanel

To answer my own question after researching most of today:

We are just going to use the CAT6 terminations/ends - the custom CAT 7 terminations by the company consortium is overpriced BS (IMHO)

Question: Now that I have the #CAT7 & #CAT6 ran in the house, do I splurge for the CAT 7 termination/ends, keystones, panel, etc. or do I just use the CAT 6 that I have on hand/procured?

I ran both to the drops, now to terminate - wall plates & patch panel. procured shielded CAT 6, started shopping for CAT 7 and the sticker shock for someone who is unemployed.... :skull_mindblown:

Ordered my first pice of rack mounted network equipment, nothing crazy just a keystone patch panel. I won’t actually have it in use until I find what switch I want to go with but I got a 12% discount on it so decided to grab it! Just have the generic listing image here but it’s 1U with 24 Cat6 ports

The app is by no means ready at all but I uploaded my first internal beta today. Hopefully will have a rough public beta soon!

When do you all push your betas to the world? At MVP stage? Earlier? Later? I’d love to hear more thoughts on when is a good time.

Tonight I finished the work on notifications! Now anytime the system audio settings are changed can send a notification.

Yesterday I put together a simple settings window for Nothing to crazy but makes it much easier to set up keyboard shortcuts.

Next up Support!

I installed a network cabinet in the basement of my parents' house in 2016 after multiple disruptions occurred due to faulty lines and power outages resulting in hardware damage. At that time, some people thought something had happened because no one was answering the phone anymore.

Then came the consideration of how to make it more reliable, and this was the result:

A 19-inch network cabinet designed for housing internet, telephone, emergency call, and UPS equipment.

The uppermost row features a 24-port patch panel, with 5 ports currently in use within the cabinet.
A cable guide for network cables is present in the second row.
The third row contains a shelf, with a cable router on the far left and a PoE injector in the center.
The fourth and fifth rows house two power strips: the upper one labeled 'UPS' powers most cabinet devices, while the unlabeled lower strip is connected to the regular power supply.

At the bottom of the cabinet, a UPS is placed on the left, the emergency dialer is centered, and spare parts such as power supplies, cage nuts, and various cables are on the right.
