On #RememberanceDay in Canada we say #LestWeForget because forgetting means we fail to honour those who gave their lives defending freedom from fascists and nazis. And all those who still defend us today. It’s also because if we forget, we’re doomed to repeat. That’s more relevant now than ever.

This Remembrance Day, I've been thinking of Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again," and its promise that we will reunite with loved ones lost to war in heaven.

I don't know what awaits us after death, or if we get to meet anyone at all. But I daresay, the same enemies our grandparents fought are rising again, and we must not shy away from meeting them with the same courage our loved ones did.

Last Friday, one of our year 7 classes did a creative lesson based around the importance of Remembrance Day.

They created their own pictures, built their own poppy and completed a writing task.

They shared stories about members of their family who have served in the armed forces and learnt new facts about why we remember.
