Als Gehweg führt ein Abschnitt der alten Ringstraße nach Reykjavík mitten durchs Árbær Museumsgelände. Heute ist dieser historische Straßenverlauf als Fußgängerweg Teil des Freilichtmuseums und lädt dazu ein, auf den Spuren der Reisenden vergangener Zeiten zu wandeln. Hier lässt sich erahnen, wie das Reisen auf Island früher ausgesehen haben mag – und man erlebt Geschichte buchstäblich Schritt für Schritt.

#Serenity on the east coast of #Iceland. In 2018, I traveled the #RingRoad with my best friend. The weather was gloomy most of the trip, and the nice days seemed to have happened before and after our arrival. I remember how calm the airport was and how much more relaxed the culture. Not all my photos turned out, but I greatly enjoyed the #countryside and #landscape. I spent a lot more time at this spot - one of my favourite places from the #trip.

Scouting the Stokksnes Peninsula for a prime sunrise spot to capture Vestrahorn didn’t go entirely as planned, as thick fog rolled in and obscured most of the view. However, the heavy mist created an eerie, almost otherworldly atmosphere, making the old radar station appear even more enigmatic against the black sand dunes.
