Vom 18. bis 20. September 2025 lädt die Universität Hamburg zum Campus-meets-Community (CmC)-Festival unter dem Motto „Response-Ability“ ein. Ziel des Festivals ist es, die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Hochschule und (Zivil-)Gesellschaft zu stärken und innovative Lösungen für aktuelle gesellschaftliche und ökologische Herausforderungen zu entwickeln. Lernen durch Engagement oder Service Learning ist als demokratiepädagogischer Ansatz in Österreich noch nicht sehr etabliert. Mit diesem Heft wollen wir einen Beitrag dazu leisten, diesen Ansatz bekannter zu machen, und anhand konkreter Praxisbeispiele mögliche Anwendungen aufzeigen.

Claudia Fahrenwald von der Pädagogischen Hochschule Oberösterreich hat das Heft für Zentrum polis zusammengestellt. Sie hat im Jahr 2020 das Projekt "Lernen durch Engagement. Demokratie in Schulen leben – Gesellschaft mitgestalten" ins Leben gerufen und baut seither das Netzwerk "Lernen durch Engagement-Schulen" in Oberösterreich auf.
