Questions:

This showed up in my yard. iNaturalist lists it in the genus Pisolithus and it can be used as a powerful root stimulator for gardening.

Has anyone had any experience using it?
Any tips about how to dry, store and use it?

Dyeball fungus or "dead man's foot" is a puffball style fruit that disintegrates to disperse spore. Used in dye making. It is mycorrhizal so it lives in harmony with tree roots and these were near oak trees.

Pisolithus arhizus

Mushroom looks like a brown lump sitting on hardwood mulch.A brown knob jutting from the ground and its crown is disintegrating to reveal a crumbly orange interior.

Found mushrooms on my walk this morning. This is Oak Loving Gymnopus (AKA Russet Toughshank)

Gymnopus dryophilus

A cluster of four very wavy warm brown mushrooms with frilly white edges on the ground among wood chips and leaf litter. They are warm pale tan to deep reddish brown toward the center. They look a bit like flowers.

It's cool how the fungi have learned how to hitchhike all over the place in shipments of hardwood mulch.

Inocybe sp. (?)

A small pale brown mushroom sprouts in a bed of landscaping mulch. It is mildly conical with striations in the cap most pronounced near the margin.

Agrocybe retigera, one of a variety called "fieldcaps." The pitted cap surface is a tell.

A small whitish mushroom with little dents all over its cap is in the grass. Close, in profile.

Rains lately have all the fungi pushing out their fruits. Found this Oak Bracket the size of a large pizza.

Pseudoinotus dryadeus

A large flat bracket fungus on the ground, looking a bit like a giant breakfast danish. Mostly white, with tan margins and a center the color and texture of pie crust. About 12 by 20 inches, roughly.

You'll catch more flies with stinkhorns, said nobody. Ever. It's true though.

Lysurus mokusin

A red-orange phallic looking fungus with flies on its top is disturbing in its essence. The fungi kingdom is strange.

My theory is that natural patterns appear as beautiful to us because we recognize our own nature in them, they resonate deeply with us, that they defy our tendency to see ourselves as somehow outside of nature. I'm a crackpot theorist, in other words.

The pore surface of one of the blue-staining Boletes, of which there are many.

The bulging underside of a bolete polypore, dull yellow in color and riddled with pore openings, many of which are elongated as if a tube was sliced open at an angle. The pore openings are in fact the ends of little tubes where the fungus generates its spores.

I'm calling this fungus 'Jelly Tongue' from now on, as I reserve the right to assign common names to any of the species in the many kingdoms of life. (My name for Homo Sapiens is Feckless Dunderhead, and I'm not wrong.)

Dacryopinax spathularia

A row of bright orange elongated blobs protrude from cracks in a tree stump. Some of them look a lot like tongues.
