#Snipe-It is an amazing asset management tool, but it'd reaaaally be complete when you could mark an asset as 'Sold' or, as some others have asked for, other states too like 'Stolen' or 'Broken'. That way the record of the asset is still documented in the system, 'cept that it's no longer available to be deployed.
Two quick updates! Snipe-IT v8.3.6 is out - and Github fixed the redirect from the old snipe/snipe-it repo, so if you had been trying to upgrade yesterday and couldn't because you hadn't updated your origin to the correct repo URL, it should be working now. https://github.com/grokability/snipe-it/releases/tag/v8.3.6

I loveeee #Snipe-IT for asset management purposes - but I haven't ever been quite clear what should be considered 'asset', what's considered 'accessory' haha. It's obvious something like a cable to be an accessory, and a laptop to be an asset, but what about a charger/adapter? Extension cord? Thermometer? etc. Any clue/pointers?

Was looking for a #FOSS solution for managing/tracking the type of 'assets' I and my family own/have in multiple households - including laptops, chargers, cables, and so on.
This is most definitely overkill considering how this software is outright enterprise material, and not family/personal use - but what I ended up discovering and deploying in my #homelab is #Snipe-IT and it's really good (and as mentioned, super powerful)!

Anyone know of any "thing #commons" (e.g. pool of items held between multiple locations/communities, available for lending) that uses something like #inventree or #snipeit to do inventory?
Stumbled upon #HomeBox¹, a pragmatic and easily self-hostable inventory tracking system. On :nixos: #NixOS unstable, this gets you started:

It looks cool and easy to use, but apparently there's no item movement history and one can't set the public url so all generated asset QR codes will be wrong IIUC 😅
#SnipeIT refused to even start for me with perm errors. 🤷
Wir nutzen jetzt bei @cogneon #SnipeIt als Inventarsystem. Jetzt werden alle Dinge systematisch erfasst und gelabelt. Mit den Hybrid Meeting Kits fangen wir an 🚀
Und neben diesen #Fediverse Plattformen noch #Grocy, #FireFly iii, #FreshRSS, #SnipeIT #BookStack, #Trilum, #Kanboard, ein #Semaphore Client, #Ulogger, #Heimdall und gelegentlich noch ein BBS-System.
