I created an orbit camera controller with the support for #SpaceMouse as an input device. This lovely device is recognized by the gamepad api in the browser, so yey. Very niche feature but fun to have around :)

SpaceMouse is already making PrusaSlicer better. I've been using it for about 20 minutes. I assume I'll get less clumsy with practice.

Got talked into acquiring #EliteDangerous, tried to configure the #Spacemouse for flying, the unusability of which makes the frequent use of the Spacemouse as a space flight prop in movies even more ridiculous. It is and remains a phenomenal CAD controller, though. 😎

@kbob @chrishuck @poleguy @neuron @hwang @wow_elec_tron I got the small Bluetooth 3D Connexion #SpaceMouse as a birthday gift and I like it very much. I’m using it with #Fusion, #SolidEdge and #PrusaSlicer on Windows. I chose the small one since I don’t like the footprint of the bigger ones and since it can use Bluetooth, a dongle and USB C cable (the dongle and the cable are included in the box).

Anyway, now I'm thinking I'd like to try a SpaceMouse. Fusion360 and KiCad on a Mac.

Edit: PrusaSlicer too.

Circa 1992, I had a Spaceball on my desk. I wasn't "using" it; I was developing the driver for a better-forgotton 3D app. I think it was connected to an SGI Personal Iris. This was long before USB; it probably used a serial port. I don't remember.

I found it really hard to control. That's partly because I was using it with very unresponsive software, 2 to 5 frames/second most of the time.

Hach, ich liebe es, wenn man sich Ersatzteile einfach selber drucken kann. Beim Joystick von meiner Spacemouse löst sich die Gummierung langsam auf und ist klebrig. Da ich scheinbar nicht der einzige bin, der dieses Problem hat, gibt es zum Glück schon einige kostenlose Modelle zum selber drucken.

I like toys and gadgets. So I got myself a #3dconnexion #spacemouse . Attached is the first program I wrote for it, written in #python #pygtk with #goocanvas. The program lets me control a directed cursor with the space mouse. You have a amazing and fast control, though I still fill that my brain is learning new patterns. I'm sure you could use it for games. Any ideas?

My next planned step is using it for controlling the camera in #vulkanscenegraph.
