Viikon aikana on tapahtunut paljon suomalaisessa “satelliittiskenessä”, kun suomalaisen Kuva Space:n operoima Sunstorm-satelliitti suoritti tehtävänsä ja syöksyi Maan ilmakehään.

Ilmatieteen laitoksen analyysin mukaan satelliitti poistui kiertoradalta puolen päivän aikaan (Suomen aikaa) keskiviikkona 4.9.2024. Tarkkaa ilmakehään paluukohtaa ei toistaiseksi tiedetä ja tuskin se koskaan selviääkään.

the interesting thing about the aurora borealis pics I got w/my phone (pixel 8 pro) last night is that they have way more color than I was perceiving w/my eye. In real life it was a pretty monochromatic experience. Still cool mind you, but mostly just the gossamer sheets of light.

(the pics themselves are not very interesting, else I would post them like everyone else ;-)
