#GhostPC updated to #Devuan 6! Some minor issues with #Dropbear and #SHH but I already fixed them!

Goodbye Debian
I realized I am not be able to troubleshoot #Debian anymore, now it is so tight integrated with #systemshit — sorry I meant #systemd — that I am not be able anymore to understand what is going on under the hood.
Once if you had an issue you could go on the /var/log/ directory and look for any logs that sounded familiar like kern.log; now you can't, there are still some logs but not the ones that you need.
Now there is this ugly #journalctl that I can't find a way to learn, my brain is not wired to work that way, it is counter intuitive and you need to learn how to use it. With regular plain text logs you don't need to learn anything, you can open it with less, cat, grep or any other fancy TUI e and GUI editor, everything was clear and easy to grasp.
I repeat the concept: clear and easy to grasp. Exactly, old century operative systems were meant to be clear and easy to grasp. Modern systems don't, it has put a lot of effort to push away normal people making everything quite convoluted.
In the past to avoid to reflect my personal biases on my kids, I decided that I would install on their computers Debian instead of #Devuan, but since I am also their computers' administrator, I need to switch to something that I use actively and I know how to fix it when problems come out; therefore when the next Devuan release will be available I will switch their laptops to Debian and I will be finally out from the frustration of using an OS with systemd.
Currently installing #Debian on a Dell Latitude 7390 for my kid...
I was tempted to install #Devuan but I decided to set aside my personal bias against #systemshit.
However the #Calamares installer is pretty crappy, I prefer using the classic installer, better if the ncurses one...
Now I realized it didn't ask to create a root account... Holy shit! 🤦♂️
I must install a new #GNU #Linux OS on my kid's computer... My dilemma is #Debian or #Devuan...
Last time (on a different laptop) #Debian gave me a lot of headaches but #Devuan is my personal preference, I would like to avoid reflecting upon him my personal biases... On the other hand Devuan is giving me a lot of less trouble on old hardware than Debian. Most of the time the issues are systemd unit services broken that provoke wrong behavior — Debian doesn't fix broken systemd units as other distros do — and I am not interested in fixing anything related with #systemshit.

Before #systemshit setup the network interfaces was like this: :flan_strong:
After #systemshit it became like this: :flan_piteous:
What I think about #systemshit this: 🖕
#Devuan on LibreComputer ROC-RK3328-CC #SBC :flan_strong:
Bye bye #systemshit :flan_wave:
Welcome home #Devuan, the #OdroidXU4 says #thanks
Trying to convert a #Debian customized ISO for #OdroidXU4 into #Devuan.
Stop using #systemshit is like when you stop to drink the coffee with the sugar, there's not turning back!
:flan_beg:
I think I'd like to have #Armbian based on #Devuan :flan_beg:
#Systemshit is always the reason why something goes wrong, for instance often the #odroidxu4 takes minutes to boot because it is stuck waiting for the network... :flan_despair:
How sad is when you happily update #Debian 🥰 and then you read the list and notice: #systemshit… 😩
#Systemshit is avenging against me... It took several attempts to install #Devuan, flashing ISOs and installations failed several times! :flan_aw:
But eventually I made it! :flan_thumbs:
Back to #Linux (👎) and #XFCE (👍) but I have mixed feeling...
:flan_aw:
p.s. I didn't say back to #systemshit :flan_XD:
All #Linux info and workaround had been devoured by #systemshit #wtf :flan_heckk:
I had to check for Debian Squeeze topics to find out anything that doesn't rely on systemshit... :flan_facepalm:
