The sky is murky and a single river is curling its way through the landscape behind her. A skeleton holding a scythe. It’s Osiris, the lord of the underworld, from the waters of Duat, in Egyptian mythology: master over the domain of death and guardian over the water of life.

There are 3 forms av death represented: 1. The Scorpion 2. The snake and the fish 3 The eagle.

Osiris is standing on the bottom of the ocean. Next to him in the mud of decay, is the scorpion. It is the lowest form of dying: according to the myth it takes it own life when in a ring of fire. The scorpion stands between two flowers: a sour lily to its left and a lotus to its right: shaped like A and O: Alpha and Omega – they represent the physical life, and the scorpion is trapped between the limits of time.

On the skeletons left there is a fish biting a snakes tail: life and death are two curves from the same snake. Above him is the eagle: exaltation over matter and the death of the Ego.

The skeleton – Osiris - is performing the dance of death. He wears a crown with Maat’s ostrich feathers. He is kneeling and with his legs he is forming a gate to new life, while his posture also depicts the astrological sign for Saturn.

Inside the gate are bubbles rising to the surface. The bubbles, as incarnation of the soul, climbs the threads of time which forms Osiris’ phallus. With his scythe he his decapitating one of the souls inhabiting one of the rising bubbles – This is his two sides: in the same swing with his scythe, he both takes life as well as creates life through the bubbles it stirs.

What surprises me is that I have this many decks. Somehow tarot has still worked its way into the fabric of my Witchcraft, and I can’t deny how much value these decks have brought to my magickal life – whether as tools, as sources of inspiration, or as objects I have infused with sentimental power.

I have studied #Tarot. Mostly #ThothTarot from #AleisterCrowley. My partner and I own dozens of Tarot decks.
I think about #Loki a lot. And their daughter, #Hel. #Chaos and #Death track all over my life, so I witness their influence on me.

@Crazypedia Replying ever so very late to this thread, but there seems to be a lot of that going on lately with so many of us recent arrivals at Mastodon.

I'm going to throw out there pretty much anything by #LonMiloDuquette A great starting point is "Low Magick: It's All in Your Head ... You Just Have No Idea How Big Your Head Is" #LowMagick opened up doors and blockages for me & helped me to unlock some levels of prior religious programming that I had not consciously keyed into still influencing me the way it was. And, it's not at all a typical #grimoire or manual or how-to guide, it's more a series of personal Essays in a memoir style from a long time practitioner. Casual, non-intimidating, and yet quite impactful.

Also, his book on the #ThothTarot is possibly the best one out there on the #Thoth deck. I'd handily recommend it over #Crowley 's own writing on the topic. LMD is much more accessible and maybe even more informative.
